Steve is a career railwayman with considerable and significant experience and expertise in operational management and delivery of maintenance and operations built up over 49 years in the rail Industry. He has had significant success whilst leading complex delivery organisations having successfully led Maintenance, Projects and Operations teams in the UK . Steve originally joined British Rail in 1974 and held a number of safety critical posts including through the transition to privatisation with Railtrack and Balfour Beatty and eventually into Network Rail. His final post just before (semi) retirement was Chief Operating Officer on Network Rail’s Anglia Region.

Steve also gained significant experience of managing rail operations and projects overseas in Sweden, Hong Kong and the US in the rail sector which included Operations and Maintenance management and commercial negotiation for multi-million pound contracts.

For the London 2012 Olympic games, Steve created the UK national Operations, Maintenance and Projects strategy and lead the focused implementation of that strategy involving multiple stakeholders including the ODA, the ORR and Industry partners which ultimately delivered hugely successful national rail transport during the games.
